Golf Highlands NC
A Mountain Masterpiece that will keep Your Interest
Golf legend Arnold Palmer designed the par-72 championship golf course, making many personal visits to create his Mountain Masterpiece. He walked the land to ensure that the green fairways were carefully carved into the natural landscape and streams to create a stunning experience for the low handicappers and beginners alike. At 6,900 yards, its features include undulating greens, white sand bunkers, hardwood-lined fairways and multiple tees to challenge the best golfers but still encourages beginners.
Golfers at Cullasaja Club have a memorable relationship with the rugged granite rock cliffs, the enchanting Highlands mountain plateau, the serenity of Ravenel Lake and the cascading waters of the Cullasaja River, as they play the game they love in the most beautiful spot in the Carolinas.
The trio of waterfalls on the course distinguishes it from others in the area, and two of the holes wind around Ravenel Lake, offering both beauty and challenge for the players. Golfers say that the weather, the unpredictable breezes and the mountain terrain all combine to provide an interesting, ever changing golf experience at Cullasaja Club, one of which they never tire.
Cullasaja Golf Professionals are always ready for personal lessons or group instruction to help Members improve their games and enjoyment of the sport. In addition, Junior Camp is offered for a week.
Golfers enjoy an active schedule of special events and tournaments, some for Members only, others for Members and guests.
The golf course is open, weather permitting, 11 months a year, with most of the golf events occurring throughout the season.
Each week during the season, Members enjoy the sociability of a Twilight Golf event, beginning at 4 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception and a special dinner for all at the Clubhouse, prepared by our celebrated Chef. Billed as one of the Club’s most popular gatherings, both golfers and non-golfing Members come together to meet family, friends and new potential Members. Every day at Cullasaja offers an opportunity to establish relationships and forge new friendships through friendly competition.
The active Women’s Golf Association annually hosts several events, such as the WGA Laurel Cup, and the Ladies Member-Guest Tournament.
Some of the highlights of the season include the Mixed Member-Guest, Men’s Invitational, and the Member-Member. Other traditional events include the Men’s Cullasaja Cup and the Ladies “Patriots Cup,” played in the same format as the famed Ryder Cup.
